CTET Notification 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the official notification regarding the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) February 2026 on its official website. 

CBSE will be conducting the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) on 6th September, 2026, in twenty languages in 132 cities at various examination centres spread across the country. Eligibility Criteria:-

Candidates interested in participating in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) must meet specific educational qualifications. The required qualifications differ for primary and secondary levels. Below are the details of the educational qualifications for each level.

Primary Level (Class I to V)

To appear in the primary level CTET exam, candidates need to fulfil any one of the following qualifications.

  • Senior Secondary or equivalent with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.
  • Senior Secondary or equivalent with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed).
  • Senior Secondary or equivalent with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
  • Senior Secondary or equivalent with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).

Secondary Level (Class VI to VIII)

To appear in the secondary level CTET exam, candidates need to fulfil any one of the following qualifications.

  • Senior Secondary or equivalent with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed).
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
  • Senior Secondary or equivalent with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed).
  • Senior Secondary or equivalent with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed).
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).
  • Any candidate having qualified B.Ed. Programme recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TET/CTET. Moreover, as per the existing TET guidelines circulated vide NCTE letter dated 11-02-2011, a person who is pursuing any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Notification dated 23rd August 2010 is also qualified to appear in the TET/CTET.

Application Fee:

All the candidates have to pay a certain amount as application fee. Category-wise application fee is as given below .

Payment Mode: Candidates can pay their examination fees through an online payment gateway. Candidates should have any one of the following options to make the online payment – ​​Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking or UPI.

CTET September 2026 – Selection Process & Exam Pattern

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions in central government schools such as KVS, NVS, and others.

Selection Process

The selection process for CTET September 2026 is straightforward and consists of a single written examination:
  • The exam is conducted in offline (pen & paper) mode
  • All questions are Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Each question carries 1 mark
  • There is no negative marking
  • Candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks to pass

CTET Exam Structure

CTET consists of two papers, depending on the teaching level:
  • Paper I: For candidates who want to teach Classes I to V (Primary Level)
  • Paper II: For candidates who want to teach Classes VI to VIII (Upper Primary Level)
Candidates can also appear for both papers if they are eligible

Step 2: Click on the 'Online Application Link' From Link.

Step 3: A New Web Page Will Open.

Step 4: Enter All Your Personal and Educational Details as required.

Step 5: Upload Your Passport Size Photograph and Signature and Other Required Documents.

Step 6: Pay the Application Fee as Per Your Category and Finally Click on the Submit Button.
