Batch-Wise Recruitment
The recruitment will be conducted batch-wise.
- Yantrik: Available only for the 01/2027 batch
- Navik (Domestic Branch): Available only for the 02/2027 batch
- Hygienist-I: Available only for the 02/2027 batch
- Navik (GD): Selected candidates may be allotted either the 01/2027 or 02/2027 batch.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification
Navik (General Duty): Candidates must have passed Class 12 with Mathematics and Physics from an educational board recognized by the Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE).
Navik (Domestic Branch): Candidates must have passed Class 10 from a COBSE-recognized educational board.
Hygienist-I: Candidates must have Matriculation/Class 10 or ITI certificate, or an equivalent qualification from a Board of Education recognized by the Central or State Government.
Yantrik: Candidates must have:
- Class 10 passed from a COBSE-recognized board, and
- 3 or 4-year Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics or Telecommunication (Radio/Power) Engineering approved by AICTE.
Candidates can also apply through the alternative qualification route of Class 10 + Class 12 and a 2 or 3-year diploma in the relevant engineering branch approved by AICTE. Pasted text

Navik (GD) male vacancies are divided into five zones, and a separate merit list will be prepared for each zone. A valid Domicile Certificate is required to determine the candidate's zone.
East Zone: Includes:

Physical & Medical Standards
Height
- Male: Minimum 157 cm
- Female: Minimum 152 cm
Candidates belonging to Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Garhwal, Kumaon and Sikkim may receive up to 5 cm height relaxation. The same relaxation applies to Gorkhas. Candidates from Assam must submit a valid Domicile Certificate to the medical officer to claim the applicable relaxation.
Chest
- Male candidates: Minimum 77 cm
- Minimum 5 cm expansion is required.
- Female candidates should have a well-proportioned chest with minimum 5 cm expansion.
Eyesight
For the General Duty branch:
- Better eye: 6/6
- Worse eye: 6/9
Candidates using glasses are not eligible for Navik (GD).
Tattoo
Permanent tattoos are generally not allowed except on the inner forearm and back of the hand. Certain concessions are available for notified tribal communities. Pasted text
Indian Coast Guard Selection Process
The selection process consists of four stages. Candidates must qualify in all prescribed stages and satisfy the required medical standards. The final merit list is prepared based on Stage-I marks, subject to qualifying all components of Stage-II and availability of vacancies.
Stage-I: Computer Based Examination
Stage-I is a Computer Based Examination containing:
- 100 objective questions
- 100 marks
- 1 hour duration
- Hindi and English medium
- No negative marking
If the examination is conducted in multiple shifts, marks will be normalized.
Minimum qualifying marks:
- UR/EWS/OBC: 40 marks

Stage-II: Recruitment Centre
Candidates shortlisted after Stage-I will be called to an Indian Coast Guard Recruitment Centre.
Stage-II generally takes 1 to 2 days and includes:
- Physical Fitness Test
- Assessment and Adaptability Test

Candidates who qualify Stage-II and rank sufficiently high in the merit list will be called to INS Chilka.
Stage-III includes:
- Aadhaar-based identity verification

Stage-IV: Document Authentication
