Ishan Uday Scholarship 2023: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has introduced the Ishan Uday scholarship scheme specifically for students from the North Eastern Region (NER) in order to promote higher education and support economically disadvantaged children in the area.
This scholarship program, known as Ishan Uday, grants a total of 10,000 scholarships annually to NER students studying general degree courses, technical and professional courses, as well as medical and paramedical courses.

The Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme for North Eastern Region aims to achieve the following objectives:
1. Promote equality by offering equal opportunities for higher studies in the North Eastern Region.
2. Increase the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in the North Eastern Region.
3. Give emphasis to professional education in the North Eastern Region.
4. Ensure the optimal utilization of the budget allocated for the North Eastern Region.
Starting from the academic year 2014-15, the scheme intends to provide ten thousand (10,000) fresh scholarships annually for various degree courses, technical and professional courses, including medical and para-medical courses.
Eligibility Criteria - of Ishan Uday Scholarship
Students from the North-Eastern Region (NER) who have completed Class XII from a school in the NER through any recognized board of education, such as CBSE, ICSE, or NIOS, are eligible for admission to general degree courses, technical and professional courses (including medical and paramedical courses), and integrated courses in universities, colleges, and institutions that are recognized under the following categories:
1. Universities/Institutions/Colleges listed under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act.
2. Deemed to be Universities listed under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, and eligible for UGC grants.
3. Universities/Institutions/Colleges funded by the Central/State Government.
4. Institutes of National Importance.
5. Institutions recognized by other statutory councils both within and outside the NER.
