About Assam Agricultural University
Established on 1 April 1969, Assam Agricultural University is the first agricultural university in the North-Eastern region of India. The university headquarters is located in Jorhat, Assam.
AAU was formed with the integration of the former Assam Agricultural College, Jorhat, and Assam Veterinary College, Khanapara. Eligibility Criteria for AAU Jorhat Admission 2026
Age Limit
Applicants must have completed 16 years of age on or before 1 August 2026 for most undergraduate programmes.
Educational Qualification
For B.Sc. Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture and Integrated Biotechnology Programmes:
- Must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) examination.
- Required subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) or equivalent combinations including Agriculture.
- Minimum Marks: General/OBC/UPS: 50%, SC/ST/DAC: 40%
For B.Sc. Community Science and Food Nutrition & Dietetics:
- Must have passed 10+2 with PCB, PCAg, BCAg, or Home Science-related combinations.
- Minimum marks requirement remains the same as above.
Admission to Master's Degree Programmes
Admission into postgraduate programmes will primarily be based on:
- ICAR AIEEA (PG) 2026 score conducted by NTA, or
- GAT-B score for Biotechnology-related programmes.
AAU may also conduct a Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to selected postgraduate programmes if seats remain vacant after the ICAR admission process.
